What tables will be running?
Role-playing games: D&D, Shadowrun and beyond
Local game masters and community groups will run open tables for Dungeons & Dragons, Shadowrun and other role-playing games. Sit in for a spooky one-shot, roll up a character, or simply watch how a session runs if you’ve always wanted to try. New players are very welcome. Every table needs someone who doesn’t know the rules yet.
New to running games yourself? Our RPG Tips section is full of advice for first-time GMs, and the day is a great chance to meet other local players and build a group.
Learn to play Warhammer
There will be learn-to-play Warhammer tables with the models ready to go. You don’t need your own army or any rules knowledge. If you’ve been curious about the hobby, this is the easiest way to start.
Miniature painting and the Halloween painting contest
Grab a brush and paint a mini. Citadel paints and miniatures are supplied. Feeling competitive? Enter the Halloween painting contest. Everyone gets similar models, the same time and the same gear, with entries grouped by age. The finished models go into the Lithgeek window at 85 Main Street for the public to vote on.
Board games
Prefer cards and cardboard? There’ll be tables of board games for every age and skill level. Check out our board game reviews for some ideas on what to try.
Keep the adventure going after 3pm
When the dice stop rolling, head over to Main Street for the free Main Street Halloween Carnivale (4pm – 9pm), which Lithgow City Council funds and produces. There’s a costume parade at 4pm, so come dressed as your favourite character. You’ll also find live music, family rides, food and market stalls, with costume awards at 6:30pm. The rest of the weekend’s events, including the State Mine Ghost Tours and Gemtopia & Lithgow Community Markets, are on the official 2026 program.
