LithGeek Is More Than a Gaming PC Shop — It’s Where Warhammer 40K Comes to Life in Lithgow
I want to talk about something that genuinely makes me proud — and it’s not the custom gaming PCs, though those are pretty great too.
If you’ve been following Jack Monkey Games for a while, you’ll know that tabletop gaming is at the heart of everything we do here. Warhammer 40K, D&D, board games, actual play podcasts — it’s all about rolling dice, telling stories, and sitting around a table with people who get it. And for the past little while, something really special has been happening at LithGeek in Lithgow.
It Started as a Computer Shop. It Became Something More.
LithGeek — at 85 Main Street in Lithgow — is, on the surface, a custom gaming PC shop. And yes, the builds coming out of there are genuinely impressive. Kevin Mason (that’s me) has been putting together custom rigs for gamers across Lithgow, Bathurst, Katoomba, and the Blue Mountains for years. But if you walk in expecting just a tech shop, you’re in for a pleasant surprise.
Because LithGeek is not about sales. It never has been. It’s about the community.
Thursday Nights at LithGeek — Warhammer 40K Game Nights
Every Thursday night, LithGeek throws open its doors for Warhammer 40K game nights. And it’s become one of my favourite things about the week.
We have players of all experience levels showing up — from veterans who have been painting Space Marines since the 90s, to complete newcomers who’ve never held a pot of Citadel paint. And here’s what makes it work: the experienced players genuinely love teaching. Nobody gets left at the door because they don’t know their rules yet. Nobody gets looked down on for showing up with unpainted models or asking a “basic” question about how overwatch works.
The Warhammer community in Lithgow is growing, and it’s growing because people feel welcome. That matters more than winning.
New to Warhammer? You’re More Than Welcome
If you’ve ever been curious about Warhammer 40K but felt intimidated — the rules, the painting, the sheer size of the hobby — I want you to know that Thursday nights at LithGeek are the perfect place to start.
We have players who will sit down with you and walk you through a game from scratch. No judgement, no pressure, no expectation that you’ll show up with a fully painted 2000-point army on your first night. Bring yourself. That’s enough.
LithGeek stocks Warhammer 40K models and Citadel paints, so if you want to pick something up on the night, you can. But there’s zero obligation. Come and watch a game first. Come and have a yarn. See if the hobby calls to you.
More Than a Gaming PC Shop — A Community Hub
I think what makes LithGeek different is the philosophy behind it. Yes, we build amazing custom gaming computers. Yes, we do repairs, upgrades, and tech support. But the reason people keep coming back isn’t the specs — it’s the fact that when you walk through the door, you’re treated like a person, not a transaction.
Lithgow doesn’t have a dedicated game store. It doesn’t have a FLGS where you can browse shelves and talk hobby for an hour with someone who actually cares. LithGeek is filling that gap — not because it was a business strategy, but because this community deserves a place to exist.
The Warhammer nights are free to attend. The conversation costs nothing. The sense of belonging is genuinely priceless — and I say that as someone who’s spent years running tabletop RPG campaigns and building gaming communities from scratch.
Come Down on a Thursday
If you’re in Lithgow, Bathurst, Katoomba, or anywhere in the Central West or Blue Mountains, I’d love to see you at a Thursday night game session. Whether you’re a Warhammer veteran looking for regular opponents, a returning player who hasn’t touched your models in years, or a complete newcomer who just watched Warhammer+ and got curious — you’re welcome.
